About the Fellowship

1959 to 2009 - CELEBRATING 50 FABULOUS YEARS
of LIBERAL RELIGION in the SPRING BRANCH AREA!

The Fellowship (UFH) has been a beacon of our liberal UU religion in the Houston Spring Branch area for fifty years.

We are members of the Uncommon Denomination, The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which is headquartered in Boston.

We have no minister; our lay leaders work with a variety of interesting speakers to present a stimulating array of Sunday programs which are fueled by our sense of community, the diversity of our beliefs, and the quest for spiritual meaning in our lives.

Like the Houston weather - we might not be your cup of tea one week, but could knock your socks off the next Sunday!

We welcome you to discover the challenge and excitement of our Fellowship!

Fifty Years Ago

May 6, 1959

Sixes, Sevens, and Eights

With the text “How Miracles Abound” and their own ingenious projects, Maggie and Erwin Grimes are helping our six, seven and eight year olds to develop a sense of awe and wonder at
the intricacies and orderliness of the universe. There is a hard core of six children in the class, full of interest and questions, intelligence and eagerness. They are currently studying stars and plans are being made for a telescope party in the summer.

From our members:

"Unitarians come together to learn from each other, to accept and to be inclusive of people's differences, and to work for a better world. We try to be the best human beings we can be."

"UU's are open to a variety of approaches to religion. They stand by you as you traverse the stages of your life."

"The hallmarks for me of being a UU are respect for other's point of view - that is the empathy to accept the opinions of others who may seem different from us in terms of our experiences in life - both religious and otherwise. I've been a member of a couple of different religions, but I actually did not have the freedom to select either one. They were more or less picked out for me."

"I believe in Nature and Nature's God and the moral teachings of Jesus of Nazareth."
